i read the boleyn inheritance which was rather good but it goes through two kinda three queens and i dont get that attached to anyone the way i did in the other two. I really liked The queen's fool also. They only books I didnt really like were the two about the gardeners. I think I just didnt follow the men as well (and they were gay which did not fit into the period for me). You should also check out Innocent traitor by Alison Weil. Its about Jane grey.

definately read Chronicals of Narnia. Series of Unfortunate Events is good too. there's this book Snow Walker which is really good. I haven't finished it yet but it's good so far. the author is Catherine Fisher. there's actually 3 books in it.

Has anyone here read anything by Holly Black? She has this trilogy, Tithe, Valiant, and Ironside, the last of which I'm currently reading. It's really good. Definitely recommend it if you like young adult urban fantasy.

And going with the young adult fantasy, Libba Bray also has a trilogy that starts with A Great and Terrible Beauty, set in Victorian England. Also worth reading.

In the classics, I've recently started reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez's 100 Years of Solitude, and so far it's really good. I totally recommend it if you haven't read it already.

On the manga front, Monster is delicious(ly dark) and yummy. For a slightly more lighthearted but still intelligent-like series, you should read Petshop of Horrors.

holly black- i only know her name because she's one of cassie's friends, isn't she?  anyway, sounds interesting, maybe i'll try to get one of her books... man, there are so many books that i want to read, and so many i want to reread, but then whenever i have nothing to read, i can never remember which ones i wanted to read next.  it's quite a vicious cycle actually...

i really want to reread the chronicles of narnia, by the way.

i'm in love love love with Twilight, by Stephanie Meyers. It's about an unsuspecting clumsy just normal plain girl who falls in love with a vampire. It's a great love story with some thrilling adventure at the end. So romantic, makes you wish that a pale excruciatingly handsome bronze haired boy fell in love with you. It's such a good book that I totally finished reading it in one day. It got a lot of great reviews. Now I'm on to the sequel, New Moon, which isn't as wonderful as Twilight, but it really follows our heroine very closely and shows as she develops as an adult. It's so great, I can't even express how much I love the books. There is a third part coming out August 7th called Eclipse, that I can't wait to read. Read it, I urge you all.

Reviving an old thread.

I just finished reading The boy in the striped pyjamas by John Boyne and you all need to read it.

Yes I totally read it because I want to watch the movie and couldn't until I finished the book
I had heard some people recomending it but that happens a lot where I work so I didn't think anything of it. My recomendation for this book is to know as little about it as possible. Let the author show you everything through the eyes of a little boy.

When you are done reading it PM me...because you will need to talk. If you already have read it I need someone to talk to
